Grant Management Tools

The following grant management tools (calculators) have been developed by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) to simplify the grant process.  They will also provide all of the necessary data you will need to plug into eGrants.  Finally, these tools will greatly assist the Project Manager in staying up to date with the status of each grant, i.e. amount to spend out, match, STEP indicator, overall indicator, etc.

STEP Grant Estimation Tool

The Grant Estimation Tool has been developed to determine the amount of TxDOT funding in relation to match funds. Within the STEP-IDM spreadsheet there are seven cells that need to be updated:

  1. OT Enforcement Rate
  2. Admin Rate
  3. Total Vehicle Operational Cost/Mile
  4. Average Hours per OT shift
  5. Estimated OT Shifts/Enforcement Period
  6. Approved Fringe Rate
  7. Multiple Hourly Rate Average Tool

Within the STEP Grant Calculator spreadsheet there are several cells that need to be updated

CIOT Grant Estimation Tool

Within the STEP-IDM spreadsheet there are seven cells that need to be updated:

  2. STEP Officer Data
  3. STEP Shift Data

Within the STEP-IDM spreadsheet there are seven cells that need to be updated:

  2. Admin Rate
  3. Total Vehicle Operational Cost/Mile
  4. Average Hours per OT shift
  5. Estimated OT Shifts/Enforcement Period
  6. Approved Fringe Rate
  7. Multiple Hourly Rate Average Tool

The IDM is sectioned into four enforcement periods:

  1. Christmas/New Year’s
  2. Spring Break
  3. Independence Day
  4. Labor Day
  5. Extra

STEP – Yearlong Management Tool

Within the STEP –  Yearlong spreadsheet there are six tabs:

  1. Grant Data
  2. Dashboard
  3. PR Data
  4. RFR Data
  5. Reviewer Narrative – When the required data is plugged into the four tabs noted above the “Reviewer Narrative” will be written for you.
  6. What If Scenarios

The STEP – Yearlong is sectioned into twelve months including one extra.
